Solanyl Biopolymers Inc

a new generation of smart materials

Solanyl Biopolymers Inc. is the proud manufacturer of a starch-based biodegradable plastic resin called Solanyl BP.

Solanyl biodegradable plastic is a bio-based, renewable substitute for petroleum-based plastic resins. Solanyl BP resins are made out of reclaimed potato starch. A unique manufacturing process is used to transform the leftover starch into biopolymers. These biodegradable and compostable bioplastic resins can then be molded into new and innovative products. This is especially useful for short life, disposable products such as packaging, plant pots or disposable cutlery, however under various conditions, products made from Solanyl BP can be designed to last many months or years, especially in dry applications.

Solanyl Biopolymers does not incorporate petroleum derived plastic resins such as polypropylene or polyethylene into its process. The starch is converted directly into an environmentally-friendly resin. The resin is then converted into a commercial product by a plastic processor using methods such as injection molding and thermoforming.

Products made from Solanyl bioplastics can be composted at the end of the productís life cycle. The composting process turns the biodegradable resin into carbon which can then be returned back to soil as an energy source for plants. This process helps to eliminate waste typically destined for landfill, providing your community with a sustainable option for waste disposal. Your company can participate in this carbon neutral cycle by creating new, green products from Solanyl Biopolymers.

Imagine all of the new and innovative products that could be made out of our plant-based and biodegradable Solanyl BP.

Introducing the Clean Air Tree Kit by the World Clean Air Forest Initiative (WCAFI). Inside each biodegradable plastic globe (made from Solanyl Biopolymers) you will find everything you need to grow your own tree. And for each tree kit sold, WCAFI will plant a second tree in one of their tree planting projects around the world. The Clean Air Tree kits can be used as a fundraiser, promotional item, or as a fun way to tell someone you care about the air they breathe. (Each tree produces one tonne of clean air in its lifetime)
